'Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go.'
We want Rob and James to carry the growing banner of internet good will, for young people and without the background of celebrity, and hopefully just to bring a momentary smile to those who read the email. And we hope it will be a wonderful way to surprise them and give hem a heartwarmed smile in the wind and snow also.
Online donations are beginning to take the world of charity by storm: Sir Steve Redgrave has recently raised around 8 million pounds for a single event, partially by internet campaigning, and nearly a million people have so far visited a website created for no other purpose than a man betting his girlfriend that he could get 2 million hits on a website.
Rob and James are currently fighting hard on the mountain, having recovered from illness and weight loss to resume their rigorous acclimatisation schedule before the final summit push, and we want to give them something to inspire them: what better than the messages of thousands of supporters on the justgiving website?
The principle is that giving is little trouble to anyone other than their time, and it will help to raise as much as possible for Cancer Research UK, as well as publicising the cause which Rob and James are so driven by.
Many thanks if you have supported this campaign: it will mean so much to the lads and to those people whose own battles have inspired them so much. You can view its progress on the counter here, on the justgiving site, and you can view the lads progress on the mountain here.
